Romantic in Action -- Beach
I used to live by the sea -- yes, only two hundred meters by the Singapore Strait. My school was by the sea as well, so we had plenty of time to hang out on the beach after class. The beach is the most romantic place in my view. For some people, romantic scene might be . But nature is already enough romantic for me. It provides an extremely simple and inexpensive way of meditation. Regardless of your age, sex, and hobbies, you'll always find something that you like in the beach park.
Ways of relaxing and having fun will never be exhausted. If you like natural scenery and just want to enjoy the serenity of nature, a ride by bicycle would be perfect for you. Ride along the narrow road by the sea, and ride into the bushes and trees. You'll find little things in nature you never noticed before, like a bunch of colorful mushrooms growing on dead root of trees (But be careful! They are poisonous.). You'll also find leaves of very odd shape. The number of species by the beach is way more than you have imagined. There are also tandem bicycles available for rent. A couple or two friends can ride together -- that's so romantic.
Camping by the sea is a good choice if you want to see the sun rising from the horizon early in the morning. You'll be woken up by cheerful, chirping birds hiding in the trees. The weather never gets too cold in Singapore -- so you don't need to bring thick cloths for camping. You'll be greeted by the cool breeze and the first drop of dew. Watching the sun rise, and taking pictures of the colorful cloud -- an excellent start of another great day.
Like sports? Wake-boarding will be perfect for you. It's not a sport you could play everywhere. There's a small, man-made lake just by the sea. Rental of equipment is always on a first-come-first-serve basis. So be an early bird if you want to try it out. It is a sport that require good balancing technique. But it does not hurt at all if you couldn't surf well and drop into the water.
If nothing above attracts you, you still have another option -- barbecue. There are plenty of barbecue stands by the beach and there will be full of people around those area during weekends and holidays. Families and classes usually hang out around the area, and cook whatever they like. The delicious smell of sausages, chicken wings and Satay source will make your mouth watering. You just can't resist that smell. Whole coconut is also sold in food courts a little further away from the beach. You will be immediately addicted to the tasty fresh and sweet coconut water, without any man-made sweetener or preservative.
A day on the beach is a day escaping from all the hustle and bustle of modern life. Relaxation without computers, Internet and television is certainly more healthy and more romantic. Some people think that romantic is expensive and requires great effort, but in my point of view romantic is as simple as riding a tandem bicycle with your friend, or watching the sun rise together. It will be romantic as long as you are spending the time with someone you really care about, or you love. You will do the same thing, and share the same feeling. And this process will make you closer to each other than ever before. This is simply romantic.

This was a great description about your hometown beach! I really liked your last comment that when two people share the same structure of feeling of something, that is what is truly romantic. Maybe romantic actually is the sharing of the feeling with someone else instead of something being romantic because your own personal structure of feeling. That connection and human interaction is what structures our life with the places, events, and objects around us. Like you also mentioned, romance doesn’t have to be expensive, but maybe the things that are expensive would not be as romantic if you were not sharing it with someone else. For example, is a diamond ring romantic if you buy it for yourself? I would argue not so much. The ring is romantic because someone else gave it to you and you place it on our hand to represent them. Is a vacation romantic if you took all the pictures yourself of yourself? I would think it would be nice to have someone else in there with you. Romance. It’s meant to be a shared feeling!
