Giving Back

When I think of a classed body I think of my main man Kevin Durant. Durant grew up in a rough environment; his mom worked three jobs, his dad left when he was 8 months old, and they didn't have a lot of money. But like many young black men, he knew he had one shot to get out and make something of his life. Getting into the NBA.

Some professional athletes live with a "me, me, I, I," mentality. Giving back to the community doesn't even cross their mind. But there are players like Durant who come into the league with a rough background and understand that there are tons of kids in the world who are struggling to get through day to day activities that we take for granted. Its not easy to go against the norm and be different, but Durant embraces his role as a role model/father figure to many young aspiring athletes around the world.

Too many athletes these days are doing things behind closed doors, like Tiger Woods cheating on his wife, Barry Bonds taking steriods and Pete Rose shaving points back in the day. But with Durant, what you see is what you get. He is REAL. As Karl Marx states, WE create our world, and Durant is creating a new world where normal people like you and I can look up to our role models and say, "He/She is real. He/She has been through some of the same things I have been though, has perservered, and is making a difference!" This picture epitomizes what Kevin Durant is all about: giving back.
